Exchange of experience between Montenegrin National Parks and German National Park Schwarzwald

Director of Public Enterprise of National parks for Montenegro Jelena Kljajević with her associates, Head of the Service for Protection of Natural and Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development Dr. Aleksandar Mijović and expert associate for promotional-educational affairs and tourism Msc. Arina Maraš, organized today an online meeting with colleagues from German Black Forest National Park.

“The online meeting with the director of the Black Forest National Park, PhD Thomas Waldenspuhl, was very interesting and useful because we had the opportunity to present the work of the Public Enterprise, and the challenges facing the National Parks of Montenegro. This meeting also aimed to improve cooperation and exchange of experiences in work, especially in connection with the improvement of the Protection Services in Montenegrin national parks.

In that sense, at the beginning of next year, it was agreed to organize a second video conference with colleagues from the Black Forest National Park, during which we will focus in more detail on the activities of ranger services and exchange experiences on their work in the field, said JPNPCG director Jelena Kljajevic.

The director of the Schwarzwald National Park, Thomas Waldenspuhl, and his associate Jasmina Himmel informed about the work and financing of this protected area, which this year was visited by half a million tourists from all over the world. He also suggested that several rangers from NPCG visit their colleagues during July or August, when the German national park is highly visited, in order to get to know the way of working in this protected area in the field.

CIM expert in JPNPCG PhD Thomas Woehrstein, on whose initiative an online meeting was organized, reminded of the previous cooperation between NPCG and NP Black Forest. He also pointed out the differences in the work of guard services in both national parks, and that in that direction it is necessary to organize additional trainings, education trainings and foreign language learning courses in the NPCG Protection Services.

In this regard, Director Kljajević mentioned that the PE is organizing trainings in accordance with the financial possibilities, as well as that the training of supervisors is already planned at the beginning of the year in cooperation with the Police.

In the introductory part of the meeting, a promotional video about the Black Forest National Park was presented, and NPCG representatives also sent their colleagues in Germany links to promotional films about the five Montenegrin national parks in order to gain first impressions of the beauties of these protected areas.
